چکیده
1. Outline of Basic NMR Principles Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), as all spectroscopic methods, relies upon the interaction of the sample being examined with electromagnetic radiation, here in a range of radio frequencies (11000 MHz). To absorb a photon of electromagnetic radiation, the transition energy ΔEsample due to the interaction of a nuclear spin in the sample with a magnetic field must match that of the absorbed radiation at a frequency of as ΔEsample = Ephoton = ħω = hν = hc/λ (1-1)

A novel approach to give more insides on anomalous diffusion processes: diffusion MR signal at varying of diffusion time versus signal at varying of gradient strength
Introduction: Experimental evidences reported in the last years demonstrate a deviation from the monoexponential decay (S(b)=S(0)exp(-bD), of the PFG (Pulse field gradient) signal as a function of b-value increasing in biological tissues. There are two ways for changing the b-value: i) to modify the gradient strength g, or ii) to modify the diffusion time Δ. Different approaches have been used ...
متن کاملEfficient determination of diffusion coefficients by monitoring transport during recovery delays in NMRw
Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) provides a method of choice to probe transport phenomena on a microscopic scale. In liquid phase, it is possible to explore translational displacements of molecules due to diffusion or flow. Although diffusion can be determined by other methods, pulsed field gradient (PFG) techniques are not invasive and offer a remarkable degree of detail both in v...
متن کاملPulsed Field Gradient NMR in Combination with Magic Angle Spinning - New Possibilities for Studying Diffusion in Lipid Membranes and Heterogeneous Materials
1. Introduction The combination of MAS NMR spectroscopy with Pulsed Field Gradient (PFG) NMR opens novel possibilities for investigating diffusion processes of heterogeneous, non-liquid samples. The advantages are based on the effect of line narrowing and concern (i) a prolongation of the intervals during which the magnetic field gradients may be applied and a corresponding enhancement in the s...

1. Introduction Combination of pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR with magic-angle spinning (MAS) NMR is demonstrated to have remarkable advantages in comparison with conventional PFG NMR, if applied to diffusion measurements in beds of nanoporous particles, notably zeolites. These advantages are based on the effect of line narrowing and concern (i) a prolongation of the intervals during which the...

Section on Tissue Biophysics and Biomimetics, NICHD, NIH. Discussion The multiple scattering generalizations [1] of the pulsed field gradient (PFG) experiments have been predicted to be sensitive to restricted diffusion even at long wavelengths [2], i.e., when γδGa«1. Here, γ is the gyromagnetic ratio of the spins, G and δ are, respectively, the strength and duration of the applied magnetic fie...
